PPE kits are often considered to safeguard the personnel working in highly contagious and sterile environments such as cleanrooms, pharmaceutical facilities, electronics manufacturing units, and laboratories. However, the standard PPE kit is not equipped to tackle the challenges of high-performance environments.
Traditional protective apparel protects the workers form common hazards like dust, chemicals, and physical injuries, but these apparels are not effective in contamination-sensitive zones. The PPE kit specially designed for sensitive environment minimizes particle generation, maintain standards, and supports process integrity. Personnel dependent contamination is the biggest challenge in the contamination control strategy. Hair, skin particles, lint, and microorganism compromise the sterility of the controlled environment are the ones the standard protective apparel is ineffective against. The products manufactured by Steriattire comply with EN 61340-5-1 for ESD protection and ISO 14644-5 for cleanroom operations and garment selection.
The specialized PPE is manufactured from low-linting polyester, with advanced barrier technology that reduce the particle shedding and helps the personnel maintain the sterility of the industrial cleanroom. Such specialized apparel is crucial for industries where even the minutest of the contamination results in equipment damage, product recalls, or compliance risks.
Generic PPE meets the basic safety requirements, but is not suffice for highly controlled environments. Protective garments undergo strict compliance testing to check for particle control, durability, and electrostatic properties. The certified garments assert that they would perform consistently under demanding circumstances. The pharmaceutical and semiconductor manufacturing units often prefer the certified protective gear for compliance as well as reliable protection.
In an electronic device and semiconductor manufacturing facility, electrostatic discharge is a similar risk as a microorganism in a pharmaceutical facility. As against the conventional clothing that generate static electricity, specialized ESD- safe PPE are made with conductive fibers and anti-static material. The ESD-safe protective gear reduces the risk of equipment failure and product defects.
In a protective garment, seam is where two layers join making it one of the weak points. The seams often become a passage for particles and contaminants to escape those further compromises with the sterility of the environment. In case of seam sealed PPE, the barrier performance is improved leading to prevention of leakage and reduced contamination risk. Amongst, serged and bound seam, the latter is employed because not only it covers the lose edges of the seam, it also strengthens the existing seam, contributing to its durability. ASTM D-6193-16 suggest that a cleanroom garment should contain 6-7 stitches per inch for an efficient protection.
In case of precision manufacturing, specialized PPE kits are a good choice for compliance as well as dependable protection. From contamination control to ESD protection, low lint generating material and seam sealed construction of PPE is preferred. We at Steriattire, understand the gravity of PPE usage and the differentiation between generic and specialized protective gear. This is the reason that our cleanroom and controlled environment garments are designed and engineered for reliable performance in challenging work conditions. Our products are itself manufactured in Class 5 and Class 8 cleanrooms conforming with our belief in the idea that in critical manufacturing units, right garment is not just protecting the personnel rather aiding in the operational efficiency of production.
